Hashiya is Yaqeen Institute’s forthcoming academic publishing platform dedicated to reviving rigorous, faith-centered Islamic scholarship. Through a digital platform and a biannual print journal, Hashiya will serve Muslim academics, students, scholars, and thought leaders by producing and curating intellectually robust content grounded in the Islamic tradition. As Hashiya prepares for launch, we are seeking an Editorial Product Manager to lead the cross-functional execution, coordination, and operational development of the platform. This role will play a critical part in ensuring Hashiya becomes a well-executed, high-quality, and sustainable initiative across digital and print channels.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Editorial Product Manager will oversee all aspects of launching and scaling Hashiya—from building the website and producing the first print issue to establishing sustainable workflows, maintaining editorial pipelines, and coordinating future product enhancements. This role requires a highly collaborative leader who can manage timelines, facilitate cross-functional input, align creative and research expectations, and keep momentum across internal and external stakeholders. This is a hybrid role that blends strategic product thinking, hands-on project management, and editorial process oversight. You’ll work closely with Yaqeen’s research, design, engineering, and marketing teams to ensure smooth coordination, and with academic contributors to ensure content quality, clarity, and timely delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead the successful launch of Hashiya’s inaugural website and print journal, managing all timelines, deliverables, and interdependencies across teams.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap that outlines feature enhancements, publishing goals, and strategic growth milestones.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to scope, prioritize, and deliver a robust, scalable digital platform that reflects Hashiya’s academic mission and user experience goals.
- Oversee content development and editorial workflows, including supporting author communications, peer review coordination, content intake, and production timelines.
- Establish repeatable systems for tracking editorial progress and planning biannual print issues to ensure a consistent publishing cadence.
- Coordinate closely with researchers and reviewers to maintain scholarly standards while ensuring efficient throughput and timely delivery.
- Serve as the central point of contact across internal teams—research, editorial, design, engineering, and marketing—ensuring clear communication and aligned execution.
- Facilitate collaborative decision-making by consolidating stakeholder input, resolving conflicting feedback, and driving consensus around priorities and creative direction.
- Guide the development and ongoing refinement of Hashiya’s academic visual identity, ensuring layout, typography, and design standards meet both scholarly and brand expectations.
- Track and report key impact metrics such as citations, downloads, and user engagement, and support long-term planning for contributor outreach, platform development, and academic visibility.
Required skills
- 3+ years experience in project management, editorial operations, or cross-functional product roles, ideally within academic, publishing, or nonprofit settings.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with a demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with a proven ability to align diverse teams and resolve ambiguity.
- Experience managing creative, editorial, and/or technical workflows with clarity and structure.
- Strong writing and documentation capabilities.
- Familiarity with academic standards, peer review practices, or scholarly content development is preferred.
- Passion for meaningful, faith-driven intellectual work and a deep respect for Islamic scholarship.
